The Animated Series' Creator Is Aware of Your Season 2 Predictions — And She Has Good News
The much-anticipated second season of the adult animated musical series Hazbin Hotel arrives on Prime Video soon, and audience theories has been rampant.
Season 1 presents a diverse group of personalities residing in Hell and Heaven, pits them against each other with songs detailing their conflicts, and builds heated competitions and emotional bonds that fuel fan obsession.
The fandom's stated hopes for the new season differ greatly, but certain themes emerge over and over: Will Angel Dust escape his tormentor? Will we find out more about the binding agreement affecting Alastor the Radio Demon? Will [favorite character] and [other character] finally get together?
"Naturally, I don't make the show with audience demands as the main goal," the showrunner commented earlier this year. "But I feel like me being a devotee of the series implies there's a lot of it just inherently. I also want to see these things, and I hope some of these things to happen, and clearly some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
She reveals her long-term vision is for a five-season run of Hazbin Hotel. Future installments have already been green-lit by Prime Video and A24, which finance the series.
That could imply viewers have to be patient for some of the biggest payoffs — but they could be shocked at how quickly the new season progresses, and how many of what they're waiting for happens this season.
"I feel like people are going to be highly satisfied," she adds. "There are several debut moments. I think we receive some incredible disclosures, some really cool backstories, and even basic elements, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] Audiences will experience much more singing from the characters we didn't get to hear before."
She's certainly aware of the guesses and hopes about the upcoming season — particularly in the format of audience prediction charts.
"I've seen a few fans make a prediction grid about season 2," she says. "Obviously I can't post it, but I've already completed some of them, and nearly every one of them have almost a bingo. I was like, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that leads me to believe we do a lot [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I realized, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that brings me joy."
Hazbin Hotel the second season launches on the streaming service on Oct. 29.
