Nineteen of the Russian's twenty-one victories have been won on hardcourt

A comeback the Russian player secured his initial trophy for over two years with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the competition championship match.

Medvedev, a former top-ranked player, has endured a torrid period, achieving just one match at the Grand Slams and experiencing a setback at the US Open.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his service game in particular - led to him exiting of the top ten and eventually splitting with long-term coach Gilles Cervara.

Currently working with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has gradually advanced in the last few weeks - culminating in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over challenger Moutet.

This marks his initial championship after the Italian tournament and first on a hard court since that period of 2023.

The win also signifies the Russian has achieved 21 championships at 21 different events.

"It's the first time I'm at a tournament with my children simultaneously, so to get a championship is really nice," commented ranked player the champion.

"This victory is in tribute of my younger daughter my daughter, because the first title I got when my child my daughter was born was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had failed in his past six finals, featuring in the German tournament earlier this year.

His retrieving approach and frequent emotional displays on the tennis court had led observers to question if his skill to compete at the elite level was concluded.

But the player has altered his approach in the last few weeks, making an effort to approach the net and play assertively, backed up by an enhanced service.

The champion came back from a disadvantage in the first set against the tricky Frenchman, winning four of the final five points to go ahead.

The pair traded break points in the second set before the Frenchman, attempting for his initial professional victory, gained dominance to force a third set.

He saved four early-game break points in a tight deciding set before Medvedev secured a break to fifteen to secure the win.

Appropriately, he secured the win with a rally at the net area, with the Frenchman failing to handle a shot after over two and a half hours.
